As I helped judge the wines back in May, it was great to be invited to the very splendid award dinner with over 800 guests around the world of wine. It was good to see so many who travelled from so far afield (even further from Buckinghamshire..)
It inevitably caused disussion about the usefulness of awards. There are probably too many medals awarded around the world, for it to be useful to the consumer, but there is certainly a huge fincial rewrad to the publishers and organisers of the Challenge to sell all the stickers, for bottles. But having just accepted their hsopitality, I can't be too critical. One thing I can vouch for is the high standard of judging!
