Chilean tasting
May 18th 2007Dominic brought these wines all the way from Colchagua in Chile. These are the results of detailed soil analysis on the Casa Silva estate, in an experiment run jointly with the University of Talca. It was extraordinary how different the wines tasted even though they were all from the Carmenere grape and only grown literally meters apart. All this continues to prove that "terroir" is vitally important in the style of wines made, and this hard work done behind the scenes by wine makers can really make the difference between ordinary and good wines.
