Big family party with over 40 guests - my parents Golden Wedding do. We used my wines of course, a big responsibility! The Champagne was an instant success with everyone: fruity, certainly not acid but very refreshing. Bourgogne Gerard Thomas with the salmon starter was ideal and then the steaks went really well with Mestizaje rich Spanish red. Quite a talking point - what never come across the Bobal grape before?
2006 Bordeaux en primeur starts
Clearly not a very exciting vintage, despite Robert Parker visiting and commenting this year. It will all depend on the pricing of course. If the Bordelaise are sensible the prices should be well below the 2005 prices, but we'll have to wait and see. This is like a royal procession with the lesser mortals coming along first and we'll have to wait several weeks before the top aristocratic wines let us know their prices.
