A brilliant trip was organised by the Institute of Masters of Wine to the Northern Rhone, where a group of us got to visit well know wine making stars and some rising ones. We got to ask some in depth questions about wine making styles and changing fortunes in the region. This is an incredibly hard region to grow vines, but the immense effort pays off as the wines are rapidly becoming recognised around the world as outstanding. Many are already on the investment lists of wine collectors, but there are plenty of good value and stunning flavours around. Watch this space for some listings.
