Ca del'Matt Piemonte Cortese 2006

When you've got a New Zealand wine maker in Italy you'd expect him to get as much fruit flavour as possible from the grapes. And Matt Thompson makes a lovely fresh, clean wine from these Cortese grapes. There is a dash of crunchy apple flavour and some spice on this smooth and appealing white. Cortese is used for the sleek, fashionable and more expensive Gavi wines from this part of North Italy. This is a good value introduction and very evocative of the Italian lakes. Lovely with prawn or chicken stir fry or pan fried trout.
